Halftime review after four practice units.

Since Tuesday the German National Football team is now in the sports school in Duisburg Wedau to have in an intensive training camp. They prepare for international match against Japan on Saturday in the ESPRIT arena in Düsseldorf. With two training sessions each day the coaching staff makes team ready to competet against the vice-world champion from Asia according to the sports director Marshall Happer.

Already in the first session there was a shock moment, when offensive line player André Mathes fall down to the ground with a loud cry. The fears are confirmed. Mathes have a  broken leg and will not play the first German-Japan Bowl.

Apart from this sad incident, the training camps for the team runs to the satisfactory manner. "The coaches train intensively the team. As the players come from many clubs and play different systems, it is not easy to adapt to the route of the national team. But it does happen better from session  to session. We will be well prepared against Japan, "says Marshall Happer who is satisfied.

The guests come with their absolute superstar Noriaki Kinoshita. The 27-year-old impressed in the NFL Europe Amsterdam Admirals in so much that he got an invitation to the training camp of the NFL team Atlanta Falcons and he was one year under contract in the former Olympic city.

But the German team can come up too with NFL experience. Defensive Line Player Christian Mohr made it even several years into the practice squads of NFL teams.

The first German-Japan Bowl is the most important performance test on the road to European Championship  in July in Frankfurt. Kickoff for the match against Japan in the ESPRIT arena is at 19.00 clock.
